Speculation begins over Twitter’s next CEO
Now that Twitter’s current interim CEO, Square co-founder Jack Dorsey, has all but taken himself out of continuing in the top slot over his confidential filing for a Square public offering, sources tell On the Money. Adam Bain, the current president of global revenue, may be tapped to fill the position.
Silicon Valley tea-leaf readers are working overtime trying to figure out likely scenarios as headhunter Spencer Stuart gets the process underway.
Our soothsayers believe the CEO position will ultimately go to Dorsey, who stepped in to replace Dick Costolo, or be handed to ad guy Bain, with Dorsey possibly stepping back as executive chairman.
On the Money hears the wild card is David Rosenblatt, a board member who could also want the job. He’s a former CEO of DoubleClick, which was sold to Google.
As Twitter’s board is packed with folks who have either done the CEO job or may want to, it could be time to clean out the attic.
Costolo remains a board member, as does co-founder Evan Williams. Other board members include media entrepreneur Peter Chernin and former Pearson boss Marjorie Scardino.
