Denim is the darling of the back-to-school season — and some apparel companies are betting big that its comeback is the life ring they need to turn their ailing businesses around.
A number of struggling retailers are stocking up on all things denim, not just jeans, but jackets, shirts, dresses and shorts to lure young shoppers back into their stores for this critical shopping season, which just got underway this month.
“We are on the verge of a new denim cycle that could help all the teen retailers,” said Howard Tubin, an apparel analyst for Guggenheim Securities.
